The Colorado Laser Clinic has been treating skin conditions like hyperpigmentation, sun damage, melasma, rosacea, acne and photo-aging with chemical peels for more than 20 years. We specifically use a physician strength line of peeling agents with ingredients like lactic acid, TCA, salicylic acid, vitamin C, kojic acid, and other ingredients specifically designed to treat damaged skin.

Patient’s skin will be evaluated in order to determine if a peeling agent would be the appropriate course of action. Lasers and other treatments may be better options depending up the skin’s condition and problem to be treated. If it has been determined that a peel would be appropriate, patients will need to begin using homecare products provided by the clinic for one to two weeks prior to having the peel applied. The prep will consist of specific skin products designed to ready the area to accept a peel. Patients will also need to use a full spectrum zinc-oxide based sunscreen prior to treatment and afterwards.

Patients can expect the treatment area to be slightly irritated for a day or two. Facial peeling usually begins on day two and continues for 5-7 days. In addition to exfolliation, the peels are designed to send special ingredients deep into the problem areas of the dermis. Improvement in pigmentation, acne, redness, etc., can be seen in as little as one week. Most patients will require between 2 to 4 peels to achieve maximum result. Peels are spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart depending upon the problem being addressed. Home care skin products are encouraged after treatment to maintain the results.
